A4I chairman Mark Ross announced the appointment as he marked the official commencement of the organisation’s active operations. Ross said that the company board was “delighted” to welcome Bowmaker to A4I, as he takes on “the day-to-day management and growth of the association”. “He is a most capable and experienced executive who will actively take A4I into its next stage of development,” Ross said.

“He understands how Australia’s industry interfaces with the global market and will be an ideal advocate for the industry both here in Australia and overseas.”

Founded in 2010 by a host of government, aeronautical, engineering, insurance and flight training firms, A4I is a not-for-profit industry association which aims to provide a policy voice for the industry and promote Australian aviation and aerospace organisations internationally.

Bowmaker said he was looking forward to working with A4I, as the association undertakes a range of tasks and initiatives this year. “Priorities for 2011 will include establishing A4I’s member services, and then building our member base,” Bowmaker said.

“One of the initiatives we will undertake will be Australia’s first comprehensive industry scoping research to fully understand the size and issues facing the aviation and aerospace sectors in Australia.

“I feel very strongly that our industries will benefit from having an independent, national organisation advocating on our behalf with a united voice.”

Bowmaker encouraged all organisations to get involved with A41 to provide feedback and opinions on issues within the industry.
