Strategic Airlines has announced plans to lease two major new premises in Brisbane, comprising an engineering hangar maintenance facility at Brisbane Airport and a new corporate headquarters.
“Pending the granting by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Strategic’s engineering license, we intend to use the original Boeing hangar facility to undertake engineering maintenance on the A320 fleet,” Strategic managing director Michael James said.

James said Strategic’s current fleet was undergoing maintenance in Melbourne “due to engineering and hangar constraints,” but that the airline looked forward to “carrying out our own maintenance right here in Brisbane with our own resources and creating engineering jobs and apprenticeships within South East Queensland”.
Meanwhile, Strategic’s new corporate headquarters will now be based at the Brisbane suburb of Hendra, moving from its current premises at Brisbane Airport into a facility triple the size.
The airline also said it expects to add a further A330 aircraft to its fleet later this year with new international and domestic destinations planned. A doubling of staff numbers is also on the cards within the next 12 months.
