Adelaide Airport set a new record for passenger traffic over the 2008/09 financial year, despite the economic downturn.
The airport says in its annual report that 6.9 million passengers passed through the airport over the year, a 2.3 per cent increase on the prior financial year. This was driven by a 2.9 per cent increase in domestic passengers and a 0.3 per cent increase in international passengers, while regional passengers fell by 2.7 per cent due to a reduction in mining related traffic.

CEO Phil Baker said that the airport would be focused on preparing for the anticipated recovery and upturn in demand likely due to the growth in the South Australian economy. The airport is currently planning for a new multi-level carpark and roadways, as well as a terminal expansion, potential office building and a new control tower to be constructed by Airservices Australia.
