Jetstar will base a further five Airbus A320s and two A330s at its Singapore hub by the end of the year.

The additional capacity will allow Jetstar to launch daily A330 Singapore-Beijing services from November 24, three times weekly Singapore-Ningbo A320 services from September 9, four times weekly Singapore-Hanoi A320 services from December 15, plus add additional frequencies to Taipei, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta.

“Last year Jetstar became the largest low cost operator serving Singapore, and with today’s announcements we plan to extend our lead,” Jetstar Group CEO Bruce Buchanan said on July 15.

By the end of the year Jetstar says it will have 17 A320s and four A330s based in Singapore, which, with additional flights to Singapore from its Australian operation, represents almost 200 per cent growth in its Singapore services since 2009.
