New Zealand based CTC Aviation Group subsidiary Airline Placement Limited (APL) has been selected by British Airways to sponsor cadet pilots for the airline’s Future Pilot Programme (FPP), with nearly 100 cadets expect to be inducted in the first year.
CTC has also been nominated by BA as the approved supplier of cadet training under the FPP, with flight schools based in both the UK and Hamilton, New Zealand. BA expects half of the estimated 800 pilots who join the airline over the next five years to be FPP graduates.

“Modelled on our hugely successful CTC Wings Program, which has seen some 2000 pilots trained for airlines around the world, BA’s Future Pilot Program provides even greater support and security for successful applicants and will certainly bring the profession into the reach of a far wider section of people than has been possible recently,” CTC chairman Chris Clarke said.
Under the program, British Airways provides guarantee to enable applicants to secure a bank loan for the funding required for their flying training, and a conditional offer of a contract of employment to successful candidates.
