Emirates Airline was able to save over 6250 litres of fuel and reduce CO2 emissions by 16 tonnes when two Boeing 777 flights to and from Australia took part in the Indian Ocean Strategic Partnership to Reduce Emissions (INSPIRE) program over mid July.
The airline worked with air navigation service providers, including Airservices Australia, and airports in the region so that Emirates flights UAE425 (Perth to Dubai) and UAE434 (Dubai to Brisbane) experienced minimal ground delays, expedient taxi to takeoff, gradual climb and unrestricted descent paths, and could fly optimum routes based on existing meteorological and airspace conditions.
