“As a major commerce and aviation centre, Santiago offers the ideal entry point to the region for Australians,” group executive Qantas Airlines commercial, Rob Gurney, said.

“By codesharing with LAN on our new direct flights, we will extend our existing codeshare relationship on LAN’s daily Sydney-Auckland-Santiago service.”

Qantas revealed plans to service Santiago, instead of Buenos Aires in Argentina, as its South American gateway as part of several changes announced for its international operations last month. Qantas’s final Buenos Aires service will operate on March 24.
