Cathay Pacific Airways has detailed plans for its new premium economy class, which will be introduced on Sydney flights from April next year.
Premium economy passengers will fly in their own cabin with between 26 and 34 seats to the fore of the normal economy cabin. Seats will feature a pitch of 38 inches – six more than economy class – and will be wider, with a large metal table, cocktail table, footrest, 10.6 inch personal television, in-seat power outlet and extra personal stowage space, Cathay says. The seats will feature a USB outlet and iPod/iPhone dock to allow passengers to view their own content on the personal television.

The Hong Kong based airline said it plans to fit 87 of its long haul Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-300 aircraft with premium economy cabins by the end of 2013. The service will initially be offered on Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver and New York routes, with other cities to follow.
Premium economy tickets will be available for purchase in the first quarter next year for flights departing from April 2012 onwards.
