A Richmond based RAAF C-130 Hercules flew to flood besieged Moree last night with bedding and other humanitarian supplies as thousands of New South Wales residents face the prospect of evacuation amid rising waters.
“The aircraft and crew were able to quickly respond to this task which will provide the people of Moree affected by the flooding with some bedding should they be evacuated from their homes,” RAAF Group Captain Greg Meighan said, adding that the aircraft and crew had been reassigned from a planned training mission.

The Army sent a pair of Black Hawk helicopters to northern NSW late last month to take part in flood relief efforts.
An estimated 10,500 people are stranded across flood-affected parts of NSW. The State Emergency Service last night rescued two people from their homes after they were overwhelmed by rising waters.
