Sydney has squeezed its way in to a list of the world’s top 20 airports while Auckland Airport has been named the region’s best.
Auckland scored as the world’s 11th best airport overall and second-best among airports with 10-20 million passengers per year. Sydney came in at number 20 overall, a 20-place improvement over last year’s survey that made it the world’s fourth most improved airport.

The rankings, compiled by Skytrax, were based on more than 12 million passenger surveys completed by travelers from over 100 countries.
Seoul’s Incheon International Airport was named the world’s best overall, with Singapore, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Beijing rounding out the top five. London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 was named the best airport terminal.
Brisbane took home honours as the best regional airport in the Australia-Pacific and came in as the 34th best airport overall. Melbourne came in at number 43, Gold Coast at 46, Adelaide at 75 and Perth as 80th best.
This was the fourth straight year the survey named Auckland Airport as the best in the region.
