Air New Zealand has announced that its group general manager international airline Christopher Luxon will take over as CEO of the airline at the end of December when Rob Fyfe steps down.
Mr Luxon joined the airline in May 2011 in his current role, and was previously CEO and president of Unilever Canada.

“Christopher has world class strategic, commercial, leadership and stakeholder management capabilities proven across multiple markets,” said chairman John Palmer. “These have been highly evident to the Air New Zealand Board in the year that he has been with the company and we have seen him affect positive commercial outcomes in our toughest operating division.”
“Christopher thoroughly deserves to lead Air New Zealand into the next chapter of its history,” said Mr Fyfe. “He is a world class executive on every level and will challenge Air New Zealanders to lift the airline’s commercial and customer focus to an even higher level.”
Over the next six months there will be a transition from Mr Fyfe to Mr Luxon’s leadership before formally taking over at the end of December this year.
