Despite increasingly sophisticated safety measures, organisers say, pilot error remains a key factor in many aviation accidents, such as the fatal crash of Air France flight 447 on its way from Brazil to Paris in 2009 and the near-crash of an Emirates flight on takeoff from Melbourne Airport the same year.

“As aviation continues to develop technologically, human limitations are often laid bare,” the association said in a statement.

The symposium will include a variety of courses and master classes. Details and registration information can be found at www.aavpasymposium.org
