Boeing has celebrated 50 years since it delivered its last B-52 Stratofortress to the US Air Force.

Of 744 B-52s built between 1952 and 1962, H-model 61-040 was assigned to Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota where it remains in active service.

The USAF currently has 76 H-model B-52s in service, with two test aircraft at Edwards Air Force Base and the remaining aircraft at both Minot AFB and Barksdale AFB in Louisiana.
