Turkish Airlines trumps Airbus with order for up to 95 737s

Turkish Airlines has taken a bipartisan approach to big aircraft orders, last month having placed its largest ever order with Airbus for 82 A320s, continues its aggressive expansion plans with an order for 40 737 MAX 8s, 10 737 MAX 9s and 20 current model 737-800s.

In a deal valued at US$6.9 billion at list prices, the order includes options for an additional 25 737 MAX 8s. It is the largest Boeing order in Turkish Airlines’ history.

The company already operates more than 85 737s that are the foundation of its shorthaul operations.

Today’s announcement brings the total number of 737 MAXs ordered to date to 1,285 and Boeing currently has more than 3,100 unfilled orders for 737s.
