Lessor GE Capital Aviation Services has announced an order for 20 737NGs and 20 737MAX airliners.
“We ordered more 737 MAX 8s and Next-Generation 737-800s because demand continues to grow as our airline customers require more fuel-efficient aircraft to compete in the marketplace,” Norman C.T. Liu, president and CEO of GECAS said in a statement. “This order further strengthens the large GECAS order book.”

The order had been booked by Boeing in late 2013 but had previously been attributed to an unidentified customer, and it takes GECAS’s 737 MAX backlog up to 95 aircraft. Boeing now holds orders for 1763 737MAXs, the first of which is scheduled to enter service in 2017.
