The Australian Airports Association (AAA) has called for the development of a state aviation strategy for South Australia in order to “maximise the economic and social contribution of aviation and airports to the…economy.”
Caroline Wilkie, CEO of the AAA said in a statement that such a strategy “would establish a clear vision for aviation in South Australia, and provide a sound framework for policy-setting, future planning and investment in South Australian air services and airport infrastructure.

“A State Aviation Strategy would bring together airport owners, airlines and key players in the aviation industry to provide the framework for the policies that are required for the challenges faced by the aviation sector, particularly in regional areas,” she added.
To this end, the AAA says a ministerial aviation working group should be established, and a review of the South Australian state planning framework conducted to ensure airports can operate without restrictions imposed by off-airport developments.
