Qantas announced on February 7 that it has applied to operate services between Moree and Sydney under the NSW Government’s five-year regulated route licensing agreement.

The route lost its RPT services with the collapse of Brindabella Airlines in December, and has been subject to a new tender.

“I’m delighted to announce that we have submitted a competitive tender to operate on the Moree – Sydney route,” said QantasLink CEO, John Gissing in a statement. “The community support for Qantas over the past couple of months has been truly overwhelming. While our decision to apply on the route was a commercial one, the community’s efforts have not gone unnoticed.”

Qantas launched short-term relief flights to and from Moree in the wake of the Brindabella collapse, and is currently operating two daily return services during an interim period which ends on March.
