The board of Japan’s All Nippon Airways has approved a major fleet acquisition for the airline of 20 Boeing 777-9Xs, six 777-300ERs and 14 787-9 wide bodies, as well as 23 Airbus A321neo and seven A320neo narrow bodies.
“The aircraft we have selected will enable us to modernize and expand our fleet further as we seek to become one of the world’s leading airline groups,” ANA president and CEO Shinichiro Ito said in a statement. “These new aircraft will give us maximum flexibility and improved fuel efficiency and will allow us to meet the growth in demand, both internationally and in our domestic Japanese market.”

The order takes to 80 the number of 787s the airline has in service or on order, and also puts in place plans to replace some of the airline’s older 777 fleet.
The new aircraft will be delivered over an 11 year period commencing in 2016.

says:I agree with the Reverend, but apparently itchy pants Joyce preferred the B747 and A380. Now they screwing their staff on account of not having a cost effective fleet.

says:I don’t see why Qantas can’t enter in to some form of asset swap arrangement with Emirates for their 777s while Emirates can take on their A380s?
This guy should be doing everything he can in order to get the International Brand back to profitability, not just focus on unions.

says:Indeed the 744ER and 380 decisions were not down to Alan Joyce, but the 787s to Jetstar was!
