Adelaide Airport has logged continued growth on the back of improved load factors and increased capacity.

Adelaide Airport has reported continued strong passenger growth for the financial year to March 31.

The airport said passenger numbers rose 4.7 per cent in the year to March 31 compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date international passengers increased by 23.1 per cent, reflecting both an improvement in load factors and a 14.1 per cent increase in capacity which the airport attributes the commencement of AirAsia X and Jetstar international services in the second quarter.

“Adelaide Airport continues to achieve strong passenger growth in a relatively weak operating environment, AAL managing director Mark Young said. “We have recently commenced several expansion projects to provide additional aircraft parking and international aircraft capacity to ensure that Adelaide Airport continues to provide sufficient capacity to support future growth.”

Domestic passengers grew 3.5 per cent to 4.7 million for the year to March 31 reflecting an improvement in average load factors and capacity increases across the network. An additional 129,000 seats were available on services to and from Adelaide compared to the previous corresponding period.

Great news for AAL and for Adelaide. I hope the upswing in passengers through ADL continues.

I prefer to transit through Adelaide on my way to Darwin all the time rather than Brisbane or Sydney. A good airport.

Just a pity that Qantas International still does not know where Adelaide is !

    says:

Well done AAL for a good year on passenger numbers. It is so convenient to fly internationally direct from Adelaide. New airlines will continue to start operations when they can see a market. Growth will continue which will enable SA to expand economic wise. Nigel Daw
