The latest Boeing 787 for Jetstar has been delivered to Cairns. The Flightaware website shows 787-8 VH-VKH, operating as JQ7878, departing Boeing’s Paine Field, Everett facility on Thursday evening (August 14), arriving into Cairns at 5:48am on Saturday.
VKH is Jetstar’s sixth 787 delivery and its first to be built at Boeing’s Charleston, South Carolina facility.

Jetstar’s seventh 787, VH-VKG, made its first flight from Paine Field (where it was built) on August 8. All 12 787s on order for Jetstar are expected to be in service by the end of 2015.

says:I recently flew syd to phuket on 787 in economy never again its spacing between seats is no better than their A320. AirasiaX spacing is at least 1.5 inches better in economy.

says:Actually Craig it is a tad less than their A330 I avoid cheapie A320’s being a bit long of leg so can not xomment on their A320.s

says:I agree to think Air India fly 787 to Australia and they are full service airline what about Qantas doing the same. Too see that awful jetstar fly the 787 is just too terrible for words

says:To everyone bemoaning the fact that the Qantas Group’s 787’s are in Jetstar service rather than Qantas’, I think the answer is really quite simple: as the 787 is a highly efficient aircraft offering lower overheads, this fits in well with Jetstar’s low-cost model / structure (allowing fares to be kept as low as possible).
In addition, it facilitates the transfer of ex-Jetstar A330’s into Qantas service, in turn allowing Qantas to retire its 767’s.
This doesn’t mean that I don’t think Qantas should be flying 787’s; I’m just trying to provide some reasoning amidst everyone’s supposed outrage at Jetstar ‘stealing’ 787’s that should be flying with Qantas! Also, don’t forget that Qantas holds 50 options / purchase rights for the 787-9.

says:Qantas won’t use the new aircraft for Qantas International until it returns to profit… wait on, that can never happen since they are flying gas guzzling 767 (going soon) and 747 aircraft on so many routes. Must be a death wish… I join the outrage that such a terrible airline as Jetstar should get the sweetheart deals on new aircraft.
