Virgin Australia is introducing business class seating on its trans-Tasman and Pacific Island 737 aircraft from early 2015.
From March next year the 10 737s operated by the airline’s New Zealand-based operation (the former Pacific Blue), including the single aircraft operated by Virgin Samoa, will be refiited with the same four-abreast, 38in pitch, eight-seat business class cabin as fitted to Virgin Australia’s current Australian domestic fleet. The business class upgrade sees the replacement of the existing premium economy product, and will complete the roll-out of the airline’s “premium service offering acorss its mainline domestic and international network”.

Sydney-Auckland will be the first route to see the introduction of business class on the trans-Tasman, as well as priority check-in and boarding.
Meanwhile Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti hinted at the airline’s annual results press conference on Friday that a new “premium product” soon will be revealed that will “raise the bar”. That new product is likely to be introduced on Virgin Australia’s next A330, which will be delivered next September.
