Tigerair Australia is the last of Australia’s major carriers to allow passengers to use personal electronic devices in flight mode from the moment they board to the time they step off the aircraft.
The low-cost carrier said on Thursday it had received Civil Aviation Safety (CASA) approval for mobile phones, tablets and e-readers to be kept switched on during all stages of flight – taxi, takeoff, cruise and landing.

“Most people these days keep their personal devices within arm’s reach for multiple reasons, so being able to continually access them during the flight will help further make travel with Tigerair a seamless and enjoyable experience,” Tigerair commercial director Adam Rowe said in a statement.
Qantas, QantasLink, Jetstar and Virgin Australia (except Boeing 777-300ER and ATR turboprop services) already allow passengers to use their personal electronic devices during flight, provided they are in flight mode and they weigh less than one kilogram.

says:Banks, the ATR comes under the old Skywest AOC thus is separate, WRT to the B77W, they also require international approval both from the FAA and the equivalent in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia.
