Aeropelican has announced that it will commence nonstop flights between Sydney and Cooma’s Snowy Mountains Airport from June 11.
The services will be operated by 19-seat BAe Jetstream 32s, with three return services Sunday to Friday and two return flights on Saturdays during winter. Aeropelican says that it plans to operate year-round services between Sydney and Cooma/Snowy Mountains, and is expected to soon release its proposed schedule for services after October 1.

“This is excellent news for the Snowy Mountains region, and will bring significant financial benefits to the area,” Kevin Blyton, chairman of Snowy Mountains Airport Corporation, said. “The reintroduction of regular commercial services will not only boost tourist numbers to the region, but will also benefit local residents by enabling them to easily fly to Sydney”.
Sydney-Cooma services were last operated by Regional Express (Rex), which announced the suspension of its seasonal services on the route in early 2008, citing the pilot shortage it was experiencing at the time.
