“Bombardier’s two newest Global aircraft are the result of our unrelenting commitment to innovation, excellence and most of all, our desire to deliver unmatched capabilities to our customers,” Bombardier Business Aircraft president David Coleal said in a statement.

“This next generation of performance stems from the winning DNA of our Global family of aircraft, now further enhanced through a newly optimized wing, a fully reimagined cabin and new, purpose-built engines.”

The Global 5500 is designed to fly 5,700nm with a top speed of Mach 0.90. Its cabin has the capacity to seat up to 16 people.

Meanwhile, the Global 6500 has a range of 6,600nm with the same Mach 0.90 top speed and a cabin capacity of up to 17 people, according to the Bombardier Business Aircraft website.

Both aircraft will be powered by Rolls-Royce Pearl engines that delivery up to 15,125lb of thrust.

The Global 5500 and Global 6500 share the same fuselage as the current model Global 5000 and Global 6000, respectively.

“These new aircraft build on the success of the Global 5000 and Global 6000 aircraft by offering 500 and 600 nautical miles of additional range, respectively, coupled with an up to 13 per cent fuel burn advantage, contributing to highly favourable operating costs versus smaller competing aircraft with less range,” Bombardier Business Aircraft said.

“Taking total performance to new heights, these aircraft also deliver a range increase of up to 1,300 nautical miles when operating out of hot-weather and high-altitude conditions, thanks to increased thrust and improved fuel efficiency.”

Design improvements also include the new Nuage seating for the cabin configuration.

The two aircraft are expected to enter service at the end of 2019.
