The total is down two aircraft from 28 deliveries in the same quarter a year ago.

Embraer said its commercial aircraft backlog stood at 363 aircraft at June 30 2019, which included 194 E175s and 124 E195-E2s. The backlog is an increase of four aircraft from 359 aircraft at March 31.

The company was expected to begin deliveries of the E195-E2 before the end of calendar 2019, with the aircraft receiving its type certificate from regulators in Brazil, the European Union and the United States in April.

The launch customer for the E195-E2, which recently made stops in Brisbane and Sydney as part of a demonstration tour of the Asia Pacific, is Brazil’s Azul.

Embraer and Boeing were awaiting final approvals to cement their proposed joint-venture first announced in June 2018.

Under the deal, Boeing would acquire an 80 per cent stake in Embraer’s commercial aircraft operations for US$4.2 billion, effectively adding the E-Jet family to its own commercial airliner line-up.

Embraer will hold a 20 per cent stake in the new JV.

The tie-up required the approval of antitrust authorities in Brazil and the United States.

Embraer 2019-2038 market outlook published in June forecast demand for 10,550 new aircraft with up to 150 seats over the next 20 years.

Asia Pacific is forecast to take the biggest market share in this segment with 28 per cent, behind North America at 27 per cent.

Business jet deliveries up in second quarter

Meanwhile, Embraer said it delivered 25 business aircraft in the second quarter.

There were 19 aircraft in the light category – four Phenom 100s and 15 Phenom 300s. The remainder were in the large category – one Legacy 650, one Legacy 450, three Legacy 500s and one Praetor 600, which was certified in April 2019.

This was up from 20 aircraft in the prior corresponding period.
