Embraer said the deal was already part of the company’s calendar 2019 second quarter backlog, with deliveries due to begin in the final three months of 2019.

“We are very grateful for Flexjet’s renewed commitment to Embraer through this new agreement, which reflects the growth and the strength of our partnership over the past 16 years and symbolizes our ongoing support for their journey ahead,” Embraer Executive Jets chief executive Michael Amalfitano said in a statement.

“Flexjet Owners will appreciate and enjoy a truly elevated customer experience in industry-leading aircraft, including the recently certified Praetor jets, which are different by design and disruptive by choice.”

Launched in October 2018, the Praetor 500, as well as the super-midsize business jet Praetor 600 are an upgrade from the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500, respectively.

Powered by Honeywell HTF 7500E turbofan engines, the Praetor 500 is built to carry between seven and nine passengers up to 3,340nm, according to figures from the Embraer Executive Jets website. The aircraft has a high-speed cruise of 466KTAS and a takeoff stance of 4,222ft (1,287m).

Further, the Praetor 500 features full fly-by-wire technology, a Rockwell Collins ProLine Fusion flight deck that included vertical weather display, air-traffic-control-like situational awareness with ADSB-IN, and predictive wind shear radar capability.

And options for the Praetor – the word is a Roman title given to an army commander or elected magistrate – included Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) with a Head-up Display (HUD) and an Enhanced Video System (EVS), an Inertial Reference System (IRS) and a Synthetic Vision Guidance System (SVGS).

The Praetor 600 was certified in April 2019, with the Praetor 500 receiving its type certificate in August.

Flexjet Owners is an existing Embraer operator and it chief executive Michael Silvestro said the company was proud to be the launch customer of the Praetor.

“This order also represents the longstanding trust we have in Embraer and in their enhanced commitment to support the growth of our programs and of our partnership with industry-leading business jets,” Silvestro said.

Flexjet’s Embraer fleet included the Legacy 450 and Legacy 500.
