Queensland police have confirmed that five people died in Wednesday’s Cessna 404 Titan crash.
During a search through the wreckage, emergency services found the bodies of a 39-year-old pilot and four male passengers aged 63, 62, 57 and 49, thought to be from Cairns.

The police will prepare a report for the coroner and have tasked the Australian Transport Safety Bureau to begin its investigation. They released the following image of the area where the plane came down.
Yesterday, Australian Aviation revealed newspaper reports of an accident near the Lockhard River in far north Queensland.
Police have said the wreckage of the plane was found just after 1pm on Quintell beach (above), around 800 kilometres north of Cairns on the Cape York Peninsula. The Cessna was first reported missing at 11:30am and was reportedly last heard from at 9:30am.
The ABC said the plane attempted to land twice at a nearby airstrip, while multiple news outlets also confirmed there was heavy rain and poor visibility in the area.
The police confirmed the plane was a twin piston-engined Cessna 404 Titan.
