Strategic Airlines has applied to the International Air Services Commission (IASC) for a ruling which would allow it to start Brisbane-Denpasar services.

According to its submission to the commission, which is dated September 29, Strategic requests the transfer of capacity held by OzJet, which it has acquired from that airline’s administrator as well as an additional 50 seats per week. It says that this would permit it to operate twice weekly services between Brisbane and Denpasar with its 229-seat Airbus A330-200. The airline said that it would start with a weekly service from December 6 with the second weekly service introduced before June 30 2010.

If Strategic gains approval and starts the services, it would be competing against Pacific Blue and Jetstar, which offers one stop services via Darwin.

OzJet previously operated four weekly services from Perth to Denpasar using Boeing 737-200s, which originally began as a charter arrangement with IndoJet Asia. OzJet ceased operations in May this year, and certain parts of the company were sold to the Strategic Aviation Group under a Deed of Company Arrangement.
