Speaking to Australian Aviation, Kevin Elliott, chief executive Code Four and director of the airshow, said the team had considered other options to hold the event after beach erosion scuppered its normal venue of Surfers Paradise, but found them all lacking.
The event, originally scheduled for 15 to 17 August 2025, has been axed for this year, as efforts to repair the beach at Surfers Paradise following the cyclone have been hampered by recurring king tides with accompanying large swells.
The three-day event will run from 15 to 17 August in Surfers Paradise, and will this year include a new STEM Zone for younger attendees alongside the aerial displays and ground entertainment.
Glenn Collins, whose Pitts Special plane crashed during a four-aircraft display with the SkyAces Formation Aerobatic Team last Friday, suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
One unnamed pilot has been confirmed alive and in a critical but stable condition.
The airshow, scheduled for six days next week, will take place less than a month after a major security breach where a 17-year-old boy allegedly attempted to board a Jetstar flight armed with a shotgun and fake explosives and was subdued by passengers.
