Canberra will be the first airport in Australia to use digital aerodrome services (DAS), which allow for 360-degree remote air traffic management via cameras and sensors positioned at the airfield. The 18mm galvanised steel mast installed this month is a step towards DAS coming online next year.

The four trainees studied 10 weeks online and 20 weeks face-to-face, and will now return to Australia for additional instruction in Airservices’ Melbourne facility before being sent to control towers at regional airports for their final field training.
