Jack Miller’s aircraft stalled shortly after leaving the ground at Bacchus Marsh, north‑west of Melbourne, in October last year, before entering a vertical descent into the ground.
A preliminary report into the accident has revealed that investigators are using footage recorded from a GoPro installed in the cockpit to piece together what went wrong during the incident that left pilot Glenn Collins seriously injured.
The accident on 28 July 2023 killed the Jabiru’s pilot David Maddern and his wife Jan Maddern, leaving the male pilot of the Pawnee uninjured. According to the ATSB, the multiple runways and lack of a tower at the airfield were both contributing factors to the collision.
The event will begin on 22 August in Uluru, Northern Territory, and conclude on 8 September in Carnarvon, Western Australia.
The performance at the ‘Wings, Wheels and Wine’ show in Mudgee on 18 May will be a tribute to aerobatic teammate Glenn Collins, whose Pitts Special stunt plane nosedived into the ground in March.
The incident saw the aircraft, operated by Wave Air and with a pilot and seven passengers on board, attempt to land at Whitsunday Airport at the conclusion of a scenic flight last November.
