Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) continues to expand its impact with the addition of a brand-new Cessna 208 Caravan P2-AFD, soon to be deployed to Papua New Guinea (PNG). Before it begins serving remote communities, this aircraft is making a special stop—offering supporters a rare opportunity to see it up close. Find out how here.
Recreational Aviation Australia will be investigated by CASA and the Victorian Director of Public Prosecutions for the alleged behaviour of key personnel during an investigation and inquest into the death of Matthew Farrell.
The report details the events of the crash and the subsequent escape by four passengers on board the Cessna Caravan VH-WTY, which was registered to Swan River Seaplanes, after it hit the water off Thomson Bay on 7 January. Two other passengers, as well as the pilot, were killed.
VH-VPY was on a ferry flight to Pago Pago in American Samoa when it lost an engine and was forced to come down in the ocean about 35 nautical miles off the coast of Queensland on the morning of 10 November, 2023.
The 3,343-square-metre Hangar 83, slated to open in 2026, will be twice the size of Textron’s current maintenance facility at Essendon Fields, and will be located on the southern apron to eliminate the need for use of the airport’s jet crossing. Construction is scheduled to begin next month.
The company, which currently operates two amphibious Cessna Caravans and a de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, will add a second Beaver under the ownership of hotelier Dr Jerry Schwartz, with a fifth seaplane expected by the end of the year.
